Bertranna Muruthi, PhD, Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy

Bertranna has a passion for working with couples and families, especially those who have immigrated, or come from minority backgrounds.

Additionally, she helps those who struggle with depression, anxiety, life transitions, coping, divorce, adolescent behavior, family discord, bullying, and relationship satisfaction develop a new story.

She keeps peoples’ whole life experiences in mind, and brings a multi-cultural awareness to her work. As a trained family therapist, also she brings that systemic-relational perspective to her work with individuals.

Couples considering a life time commitment can consult her using Prepare and Enrich, an established program which looks at all aspects of life for better conversations and understanding each other’s values and dreams.

She has experience providing assessments, consultation, and individual, couples, family and group psychotherapy services, as well as outreach in community, non-profit and campus settings.

Bertranna earned her doctorate degree from the University of Georgia Marriage and Family Therapy program in 2016. She has a special interest in working with diverse families and obtained advanced training from the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy Minority Fellowship program on delivering culturally competent mental health to minority populations. She is an Associate Professor at Virginia Tech-Falls Church.
